Host: Amy Matheny
Amy is excited for the holidays and the final weeks of 2013! She's giving some props to our co-hosts - Scotty D is starring in We 3 Lizas at Stage 773 and Mitchell will be bringing Crumpet back to Theatre Wit in his 10th year of the Santaland Diaries. Also, in a first for her, Amy is excited to speak about antisemitism and homophobia in Nazi Germany with our guest today.
Guest: Dr. Peter Hayes, noted Holocaust scholar and Northwestern University faculty member, joins Amy on this Queercast. Dr. Hayes discusses gays in Nazi Germany during the Holocaust. He explains how gays were identified, their punishments in the camps and also if there was homophobia among other Jewish prisoners. Amy and Dr. Hayes have a very compelling conversation about this topic many in the LBGT community haven't yet heard. Dr. Hayes will be speaking at the Illinois Holocaust Museum on Dec. 5th from 6pm-8pm. For reservations, please email reservations@ilhmec.org as they are required to attend.
