WCQ407 GLBTQ Youth & Bullying
2011-03-07

Host: Amy Matheny
Amy started off her week attending the gayest concert ever, Lady Gaga. She dishes on the show, the opening act of The Scissor Sisters and whether you think Lady Gaga will be bigger than Madonna. She also discusses a new documentary, For Billy, which was inspired by a letter sent to the author of an "It Gets Better" video.
Guest: Openly gay writer/producer, Michael Anthony joins Amy on this Queercast. Michael's new documentary For Billy focuses on the hardships of growing up GLBTQ in small Midwestern towns. The project is based in Wheeling, Illinois, which is Michael's hometown, and was created because of an emotional and honest letter he received from a viewer named "Billy" who saw his It Gets Better video. Michael also shares a sad story of being in love with his best friend in junior high. Michael is coming to Chicago to promote a concert/exhibit called Be The Exhibit - End Teen Bullying Through Art & Activism. It will be held on March 18th (doors open at 6:30 pm) at the European Crystal Ballroom (519 W. Algonquin Rd. Arlington Heights, IL).
