WCQ325 Jim Pickett and the International AIDS Conference 2009-09-01
Host: Amy Matheny with Miss Cleo
What is going on with prevention and care for people living with HIV and AIDS. Miss Cleo turns the clock back and looks into her first awareness of the HIV virus hitting the news. Amy questions where our younger community is with their response to HIV and AIDS. This is a very special show.
Guest: AIDS Foundation of Chicago's very own Director of Advocacy, Jim Pickett joins Amy on the Queercast. Jim is the Chair of IRMA (International Rectal Microbicide Advocates) and attended the 2009 International AIDS Conference in Cape Town, South Africa. He explains what a Microbicide is and how it could prevent the sexual transmission of HIV. He also shares the huge challenges that face Africa and their high rates of HIV. For more information on AIDS and the Conference visit www.ias2009.org and www.aidschicago.org.
