Not At All!
2006-05-12
You don't need an iPod or any other mp3 gizmo to listen to a Podcast. All you need is a computer, an internet connection, and some free software.
It's pretty simple actually.
People who make podcasts are really only creating mp3 files. You've heard of mp3 files. They are just like music files.
We create an mp3 file, put it out on internet, and you download it to listen. Some folks create them every day, some people make them once a week, and some even make a few each day. Everybody is different, and every podcast is different.
From time to time, we may even make a special video for you and put it on the internet. If you are subscribed, it will download automatically.
To get to a podcast, it helps to have some software. Some people like to call this your "podcatcher." We like iTunes because it's easy to use, and you can play our podcasts right inside iTunes.
An excellent beginners guide to podcasting was created by Ken Underwood from Parrott Talks. You can read it here.
